William Watson (chess player)

William Nicholas Watson ( born April 18, 1962 in Baghdad ) is an English chess player.

Life

William N. Watson was awarded in 1982 by the FIDE International Master title in 1990 he was appointed Grand Master. In 1992 he won the English title in chess, in 1994 the British Championship, held in Norwich. Until 2002, he played in the chess Bundesliga for SV Castrop -Rauxel. Watson has finished his chess career as a professional now and is now working as a lawyer in the prestigious law firm Slaughter and May.

Tournament successes

William Watson was as second substitute to the English team at the Chess Olympiad 1988 in Thessaloniki, with whom he won the silver medal. He came in five of the 14 rounds used, won three times and played twice a draw.
