William Webb (judge)

Sir William Flood Webb KBE, ( born January 21, 1887 in Brisbane ( Queensland); † August 11, 1972 ibid ), Australians, was a lawyer and judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia. He studied at the University of Queensland. He also served as chairman from 1946 to 1948 sentencing judge (President ) of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East after the end of World War II. He married Beatrice Agnew on 17 March 1917.

Career to date

  • Admission to the Bar June 4, 1913 (Queensland Bar )
  • 1915 Attorney for Queensland (Public Defender ) and Attorney-General from 1917 to 1922, Attorney General ( Solicitor - General of Queensland country) is better 1922 until 1925.
  • Judge of the Commonwealth Court of Conciliation and Arbitration (1922-1927)
  • President at the Queensland Court of Arbitration (1925-1945)
  • Supreme Court ( Supreme Court of Queensland), puisne judge, senior puisne judge, chief - Chief Judge on April 24, 1925 to May 15, 1946
  • After the High Court of Australia ( Constitutional Court of Australia) to 16 May 1958.

From 1943 to 1945 he studied behalf of the government war crimes against Australians in captivity (the three Webb reports).
