William Windom (actor)

William Windom ( born September 28, 1923 in New York City; † August 16, 2012 in Woodacre, Marin County, California ) was an American actor.

Career

Since 1949 Windom starred in numerous productions. This includes films such as To Kill a Mockingbird, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, She's having a baby and The Miracle of Manhattan. He became famous, however, with his series roles in The Farmer's Daughter, My World and Welcome to It, and especially with the role of the physician Seth Hazlitt in Murder, She Wrote. Before he played the role of the doctor, he already played in the episode Dark past as Sam Breen an assassin.

Private

Windom was the son of Paul and Isobel Windom. His great-grandfather was the politician William Windom. He was married for the fifth time, leaving six children. Windom died on 16 August 2012 at the age of 88 at his home in Woodacre, California, from heart failure.
