William Wycherley

William Wycherley (* 1640 Clive, Shropshire, † 1716) was an English dramatist of the Restoration period.

Biography

He was born in Clive, Shropshire, studied in France and came back to England in 1660. In 1671 he wrote his first play, Love in a Wood. But his most famous pieces are the innocent country ( 1672) and The Plain Dealer ( 1676 ).
