William Yiampoy

William Yiampoy ( William Oloonkishu Yiampoy; born May 17, 1974 in Emarti at Kilgoris, Rift Valley Province ) is a Kenyan middle distance runner who specializes in the 800 -meter run.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he left in the semifinals. He finished fourth at the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton and the IAAF Grand Prix Final 2001. He was of African runners in 2002. In 2004 he finished fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest and African champions. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005, he won the bronze medal. 2005 and 2006, he came fourth at the IAAF World Athletics Final.

On August 24, 2006, he put together with Joseph Mwengi Mutua, Ismael Kipngetich Kombich and Wilfred Bungei the current world record in the 4 x 800 - meter relay on ( 7:02,43 min).

Yiampoy is 1,83 m tall and weighs 70 kg. He is employed by the presidential guard of police and lives in Ngong near Nairobi. His coach is Gianni Ghidini, his manager Gianni Demadonna.
