The Williams FW35 is the Formula 1 racecar of Williams for the 2013 Formula 1 season. The car was presented as the last car for the 2013 season on February 19, 2013 at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, the first test drives of the year at the Circuito de Jerez Williams had played with a modified last year's model.
Technology and Development
The FW35 is the successor of the FW34. The car hides the " nasal hump " by the newly introduced Eitelkeitsblende. Developed by Mike Coughlan car is powered by a Renault V8 engine with 2.4 liter displacement, which develops an output of 550 kW ( ≈ 750 bhp). The KERS is a development of Williams, the tire supplier Pirelli, the unit is available.
Like all Formula 1 cars, the 2013 season is equipped with KERS and DRS of the FW35.
When FW35 is a further development of the FW34, the team put the emphasis on achieving significantly more traction and to protect the rear tire. About 80 percent of the parts are new, including transmission, rear wheel suspension, radiator, underfloor and nose. The two-part exhaust design, which uses the Coanda effect, is a new development. However, this is suspected not to comply with the technical regulations of the FIA. Williams responded to the assessment of Charlie Whiting, technical director of the FIA , which ranks the exhaust to be non- compliant, and denied the third pre-season test with a different exhaust design.
Also noticeable is the front wing design, which presents itself as a single connected component to an additional element is mounted in the upper part. Another special feature is that the FW35 air is passed over the brake ducts through the axes.
Paint and sponsorship
The Williams FW35 is painted dark blue. In addition, there are shades of white on the vehicle. Major sponsors on the vehicle are PDVSA, Randstad, Wihuri, Experian and Renault.
Driver
Pastor Maldonado was at Williams. His new team-mate was Valtteri Bottas, who came into the team in place of Bruno Senna.
