Williamtown (New South Wales)

Williamtown is a rural village with about 800 inhabitants in the Australian state of New South Wales. Williamtown is located 26 kilometers north of Newcastle and 15 kilometers east of Raymond Terrace. It is located in the administrative area (LGA ) Port Stephens Council.

The area east of Williamstown is dominated by the RAAF Base Williamtown, a Royal Australian Air Force Base, and the airport of Newcastle. In the West, however, outweighs rural area with some larger estate. In the south of Williamtown is the Fullerton Cove, a large bay of the Hunter River.

The place is also known for its beaches and coastal wreck ahead of Sygna. The Norwegian 50,000 ton freighter ran here in 1974 after a storm aground and broke apart.
