Willibald Nagel

Willibald Nagel ( born June 19, 1870 in Tübingen, † November 13, 1911 in Rostock; Complete name: Willibald A. Nagel) was a German physiologist sense, the particular dealt with the optometry in humans.

Life

Nail studied natural sciences and medicine, and in 1892 and in 1893 received his doctorate in both subjects. He habilitated in 1895 at the Albert- Ludwigs- University of Freiburg in 1902 and associate professor of physiology at the Humboldt University in Berlin (then Friedrich- Wilhelms- University ), where he also headed the organoleptic Department. In 1908 he was appointed a full professor at the University of Rostock. His successor in Rostock was Hans Winterstein.

Inventions

Nail developed a number of devices for the study of vision. Especially his adaptometer for measuring dark adaptation and the so-called nail - Vierling were known, could be examined with color blindness.
