Willie Smits

Willie Smits ( born February 22, 1957 in Weurt in Nijmegen, Netherlands) is a trained forester and animal rights activists.

Smits graduated in subjects tropical silviculture, soil science and genetics at the Agricultural University of Wageningen (Netherlands). There he received his doctorate for forest scientists. On Borneo (Indonesia) 1991 he founded the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation ( BOS), the world's largest organization for the protection of the immediately endangered orangutans.
