Willy Planckaert

Willy Planckaert ( born April 5, 1944 in Nevele ) is a former Belgian cyclist.

1964 Willy Planckaert finished second in the road race in the Amateur at the UCI Road World Championships 1964 in Sallanches. From 1965 to 1988 he ran as a pro. His greatest achievement during this long career was winning the green jersey in the Tour de France in 1966, when he decided two stages for itself.

Otherwise Planckaert won at numerous smaller races, so in 1965 at Brussels - Charleroi -Brussels, the Grand Prix Pino Cerami 1967, 1974 Omloop van de Vlaamse Scheldeboorden and Omloop van het Houtland, 1976 Across Flanders and 1977 the Étoile de Bessèges. At the Giro d' Italia 1967, he won three stages.

Willy Planckaert comes from a cycling family: his brothers are the cyclists Walter and Eddy Planckaert, his nephew Francesco Planckaert and his son Jo Planckaert.
