William " Willy " Sagnol ( born March 18, 1977 in Saint- Étienne ) is coach of the France U-21 national football team and a former French footballer.

Career

Clubs

The full-back comes from the successful talent of AS Saint -Étienne ( in his time under Jacques Santini ), for which he ten games in Division 1 played in the 1995/96 season and then played a year in the second division before 1997 thus moved to AS Monaco and back into France's highest division. For the Monegasque he came in three seasons to 71 Erstligaeinsätzen and crowned his last season, 1999/2000, with the championship.

Life after playing career

In autumn 2009 Sagnol began a two- year apprenticeship as a sports general manager at the Centre de droit et d' économie du sport in Limoges. From 2009 to 2010 he worked as an expert for Canal and commented and analyzed in this position football games. In January 2010 Sagnol was admitted as a Supervisory his former training club AS Saint -Étienne. In October 2011, the French Football Federation FFF entrusted him - first in December 2012 - with the newly created role of a responsible for all national teams manager at the Direction Technique Nationale ( DTN ); yet he is responsible in particular for the coordination between DTN and A- coach. Willy Sagnol is married and has four children. He is the cousin of the French TV presenter Alessandra Sublet, whose father Joël Sublet was active in the 1970s as a football player for Olympique Marseille.
