Wilmar Cabrera

Wilmar Rubens Cabrera Sappa ( born July 31, 1959 in Cerrillos, Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach.

Playing career

Association

Cabrera, who because of his physical appearance Toro ( in German: Bull) was called, his athletic career began at club level first with the Uruguayan club Nacional and was there for the legendary Rey de Copas, when he with the team in 1980 both the national championship and the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup won. Other career stops were then clubs in Colombia, Spain, France and Mexico, before returning in 1991 to Nacional. From 1992 he played then for various smaller Uruguayan clubs within the professional football. Other successes at club level in addition to the already mentioned, were the re- gain the Uruguayan national championship in 1983 and 1992. National

The center forward was a member of Celeste, for which he completed a total of 26 matches between 2 June 1983 and June 16, 1986 and where he met six times in the opponent's goal. In 1983 he was involved in winning the South American Championship. He also took part in the World Cup 1986.

Coaching career

Cabrera has worked as a coach after ending his active career. He began in 1996 as a youth coordinator at River Plate Montevideo and was promoted in the same year head coach. One job at Nacional Montevideo as coach of the LUD teams from 1997 to 1998 was followed only in 2000 a further coach of El Tanque Sisley's first team. From 2001 to 2004 he was again employed as a youth trainer at Nacional, before becoming an assistant coach - office in El Nacional in Ecuador took 2005. The local office as an assistant coach Hugo Almeida Éver he gave in 2006 in favor of a commitment as head coach at the Ecuadorian capital club Deportivo Quito. In 2007, he remained in the country, but moved to the employer and trained LDU Loja in a responsible position. In 2008 he returned to the Uruguayan Primera División back and supervised from now on the Cerro Largo FC. Since at least October 2010 he is a trainer at CA Atenas de San Carlos.
