Wilson County (Kansas)

Wilson County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Fredonia.

Geography

The County is located in southeast Kansas, is located in the south about 40 miles from Oklahoma and has an area of 1489 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Woodson County, Allen County, Neosho County, Montgomery County, Elk County and Greenwood County.

History

Wilson County was formed in 1865. It was named after Colonel lived Hiero T. Wilson, the first white men here at Fort Scott in September 1843.
