Wim Delvoye

Wim Delvoye ( b. 1965 in Wervik ) is a Belgian conceptual artist. His focus is on the presentation of aesthetic contrasts, in which he characterized by irony, wit and humor, often combines with Decorative everyday function and thus questioned common value systems of the consumer society.

In one of his most famous works, Cloaca, a machine that simulates the human digestive process, he has succeeded after several years of research and with the help of scientists to replicate one of the inner workings of the human body and produce of human visually indistinguishable excrement. These are then wrapped in foil and packaged in a transparent square, sold as works of art. The film uses the word " Cloaca ".

Another focus of his work make tattoos in pigs and humans Represents the factory TIM, a back tattoo of the Swiss Tim Steiner with a skull and Madonna, was sold in 2008 for 150,000 euros to the German art collector, Rik Reinking. Tim Steiner is committed for this sum to present the work of art annually for three to four weeks. After his death, the skin area to the purchaser or his heirs is passed.

As part of the art show Art Safari on ARTE is also the director Ben Lewis was tattooed. The design, which also carries one of the most tattooed by Wim Delvoye pigs, shows a crucified Mickey Mouse. The signature of Delvoye mimics the Disney logo.

In his steel sculptures he uses filigree gothic structures for objects such as concrete mixers and missiles.
