Technical details

Like other emulators this type virtualize WinCDEmu optical drives ( eg CD or DVD ). It previously called memory images of the optical media are created to then play from the hard disk in a virtual disk. WinCDEmu can even create such images. After installing WinCDEmu it suffices to double- click a file in one of the supported formats, so that they can respond with a letter as a virtual drive to "mount", ie as a drive. To eject CD / DVD images again, it does not require a system-tray - program, but it takes is a new double-clicking on the concerned file, or right-click on the appropriate drive and pressing the eject function.

The virtual drive is thereby integrated into the operating system that it seems as if befände an additional drive in the computer used. For the user, it differs in the service not of physical drives. Power can be saved especially in notebooks, because the hard disk on which is the virtual drive, consumes less electricity than a DVD drive.
