Wind shear

When wind shear is a difference in wind speed or wind direction between two points on the earth's atmosphere is called. Driving force are large differences in air pressure at which the referred to as wind shear wind movement acts as a balance between these points. Depending on whether these two points are at different heights or different geographic locations, is spoken by a vertical or horizontal wind shear. Especially pronounced shear effects are seen in lightning storms or when the jet stream.

Wind shears are a huge threat to air traffic, particularly if they hit an airplane during takeoff or landing particularly delicate phase.
