Windeby

Windeby (Danish Vindeby, Low German: Winneby ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

The community is located west of Windeby Eckernförde on Windebyer Noor. In the north the municipality borders on the national highway 76, in the south of it lies on the main road 203 in the direction of Eckernforde in Rendsburg. The community of the eponymous place Windeby together with the Good Windeby is located southwest of Windebyer Noor. The capital of the district is but cooking village in the northern municipality.

History

The ending -by is in Danish today, " city ", "City", in Jutland " village, settlement " and is widely used in the Schleswig.

Archeology

Nationwide awareness attained the place by the discovery of two bog bodies, one of which was known as the girl from Windeby until recently and it turned out according to recent studies as a boy. The other bog body called man of Windeby.

Policy

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council, the SPD and the voter community FWGW have since the local elections 2008 per four seats, the CDU has three.
