Geography

The municipality winds with their two districts Niederwinden and Oberwinden located about 25 km north-east of Freiburg im Breisgau in a valley of the middle Black Forest. Curling is located at the foot of the mountain between Hornle Gutach and Elzach in the Elz Valley. Neighboring communities of winches are Elzach in the north, and east, Simon forest in the southeast and Gutach in the West.

History

In a document of Pope Alexander III. from the year 1178 are the places " wineden inferior et superior ", low winds and high winds, first mentioned as the property of Waldkircher monastery of St. Margaret. In Oberwinden is a primary school with Werkrealschule in Niederwinden a primary school. In addition, there are two districts in each kindergarten.

Culture and sights

Music

In 1880, decided 12 enthusiastic musicians to form the band Oberwinden. Performances took place mainly at church events and special events in the community.

In 1928, young musicians formed the chapel of a delegation that disputed public events with success in its own interests.
