Windsor is a town in Hartford County in the State of Connecticut in the United States.

Geography

The city is located 10 km north of Hartford and 10 miles south of Bradley International Airport. She is also on the Connecticut River and the Interstate 91 highway.

History

Originally the territory of today's Windsor was settled by Native American tribes, particularly of the Pequots and Mohegans to. In 1633 settlers from Massachusetts settled there. The name "Windsor" goes back to the year 1637. Between 1830 and 1930 the main livelihood of the population was secured in sawmills and paper mills. Another important economic factor was the cultivation of tobacco and the manufacture of bricks. Many of the required areas were shut down later and are now used for modern office buildings and other commercial areas and industrial parks.

The 2000 census (United States Census 2000) showed a total population of 28,237 people, 10,900 households divided into. The proportion of people under 18 years old at that time was just under 25 %.
