Windsor Gotfredsons

The Windsor Gotfredsons were a Canadian ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Windsor, Ontario. The venue of the Gotfredsons and its successor clubs was the Windsor Arena.

History

The Windsor Gotfredsons were formed in 1945 and were one of the founding members of the International Hockey League. The club was only a year and was called from 1946 Windsor Staffords. The Staffords reached in their first season in first place of the IHL. In the following season the team finished sixth. The Staffords lost 21 games and won only eight. In the summer of 1948, just two years after the first renaming, the Association changed its name again and played from now on as Ryan Windsor Cretes in the IHL. The Ryan Cretes existed until 1950 before they broke up.
