Winnebago County (Iowa)
The Winnebago County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. In the census in 2010, the County had 10,866 inhabitants and a population density of 10.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Forest City. The city is for the most part in Winnebago County and to a lesser extent in Hancock County.
Geography
The County is located in the extreme north of Iowa, on the border of Minnesota and has an area of 1040 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It borders in Iowa following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Winnebago County was formed in 1847. It was named after the Native American people of the Winnebago.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Winnebago County 10,866 people in 4,711 households. The population density was 10.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 96.1 percent white, 0.8 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.8 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.0 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 3.3 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
In the 4,711 households lived statistically 2.23 per person.
21.7 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 59.0 percent were between 18 and 64 and 19.3 percent were 65 years or older. 50.5 percent of the population was female.
