Winsford, Somerset

Winsford is a town of 270 inhabitants, 16 km south-west of Minehead in the English county of Somerset within the Exmoor National Park. Near the village there are grave sites from the Bronze Age and a menhir, probably dating from the 5th century and was first mentioned in 1219. The town itself is mentioned in the Domesday Book in the year 1085.

The Labour politician Ernest Bevin was born 1881 in Winsford. The psychologist Charles Samuel Myers died there in 1946.
