Winslow Reef, Phoenix Islands

The Winslow Reef (English: Winslow Reef ) is a coral reef in the Pacific Ocean. It is located in the northwest area of the island nation of Kiribati belonging Phoenix Islands, located about 240 km north-west of the island McKean. The reef is about 1.6 km long in east-west direction and is at its highest point at least 11 m below the sea surface.

The reef was built in 1851 by the whaling ship Phoenix, after whom the island group is named, discovered and named after its captain Perry Winslow. Robert Louis Stevenson mentioned the Winslow Reef in 1889 in one of his letters.
