Winterscheid
Winter Scheid is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Prüm.
Geography
Winter Scheid is located southwest of Bleialf and about 50 km north- west of Bitburg, near the Belgian border. The entire district is part of the North Eifel Nature Park. For winter Scheid include the residential places Heltenbachermühle, Himmesberg ( Winterscheider mountain ) and winter Mühle.
History
In the first documentary mention of the place in 1304, a Urkundszeuge Hildebrandus de Winter Scheid is mentioned. The place originally belonged to the Principality of Prüm, later to kurtrierischen Office Prüm, and the Schultheißerei Bleialf was assigned. From 1777 16 home sites in winter Scheid are occupied, 1779 91 inhabitants mentioned.

After the Kingdom of Prussia took over the Rhineland because of the decisions of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Winter Scheid was a mayor in the newly formed in 1816 circuit Prüm in the Trier region. At the mayor's Winter Scheid belonged the communities:
