Wippenham

Wippenham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried in the Innviertel with 536 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Ried.

Geography

Wippenham is located at 450 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 3.6 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 3.9 km. The total area is 8.1 km ². 22.2 % of the area is forested, 67.9 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then ' Innbaiern ') to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally to Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Policy

Mayor is Roswitha Schachinger of the SPÖ. She is the first woman to hold this office in Wippenham. The list WFW ( We For Wippenham ) was founded by Helmut Zechleitner.

Population Development

In 1991 the community had 527 inhabitants according to the census, at the 2001 census, 557 inhabitants were counted.
