Wippien

Wippien is a VPN client for Windows and Linux. The program provides a VPN connection between two peers ago (P2P ).

Wippien thus allows a simple way a virtual LAN between two computers over the Internet to produce. The data is compressed and encrypted using AES. There is also the opportunity to exchange with the peer messages each other. This is realized with the XMPP protocol. The source code of the core software is freely available and is licensed under the MIT license. The VPN and XMPP functionality but is powered by a proprietary program library. Connection

It is up to each contact a VPN connection. In order to avoid problems with NAT to Wippien served an intermediary (mediation server).

Mediation Server

The developers of Wippien provide a mediation server. It is also possible to take a separate mediation server into operation and use. This requires a computer which can be accessed via the Internet, a web server with PHP support and a MySQL database.

Use

About Wippien programs can be used, which would otherwise run only in a private network (LAN). By integrating XMPP also messages which are subject to a TLS encryption, the other one peer can be transmitted.
