Wisconsin and Southern Railroad

The Wisconsin and Southern Railroad ( WSOR short ) is a regional railway company was founded in 1980 for freight traffic in the area of Wisconsin headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, USA. It has ( 2007) on a route network of 700 miles ( including 100 as route rights ), has more than 200 employees, about 30 locomotives and transported 2001 50,000 Wagon loads of goods.

Main hub of the WSOR is Madison (Wisconsin ), from which several routes to Fox Lake ( and on to Chicago), Prairie du Chien, Reedsburg, Watertown, Monroe and Grand Ave., All in Wisconsin, lead. A second route goes from Milwaukee to Oshkosh ( Wisconsin).

The current color of the locomotives is a red color with a wide longitudinal stripes and lettering of the longitudinal strip (in red) with " Wisconsin & Southern ." The locomotive snouts carry alternating red / white diagonal stripes.

On 1 January 2012, the WSOR has been sold by the State of Wisconsin to the Watco Companies.
