Wisden Cricketers' Almanack

Wisden Cricketers ' Almanack, Wisden often short or the Bible called the Cricket, is a famous annual publication in the United Kingdom reference work on the cricket sport.

History

The Almanac first appeared in 1864, published by the English cricketer John Wisden. Since the sixth edition of the Yearbook leads the current title. This makes it the longest continuously published sporting year book of the world.

In the more than 140 years of its appearance Wisden has so far had only 15 publishers. The publisher was one long for Press Group of Robert Maxwell, but was bought by Sir Paul Getty in 1993.

The collection of old editions of Wisden is a popular hobby of cricket fans. For old issues or those from the World War era high prices paid at auctions, they can be purchased as a facsimile today.
