Witold Zglenicki

Witold Leon Julian Zglenicki, (Russian Витольд Згленицкий; born January 6, 1850 in Stara Wargawa; † July 6, 1904 in Baku ) was a Polish geologist, oil exploiters and philanthropist.

Witold Zglenicki is the discoverer of the rich oil fields in the Caucasus. He is also the pioneer in the field of oil extraction from the seabed.

Zglenicki established a foundation for the development of Polish culture and science. Grateful for this foundation it is called in Poland "Polish Nobel ".
