Wittenborn
Wittenborn is a municipality in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein.
Geography
Wittenborn is on the edge of the Segenberger Forst, near the Mözener lake.
History
Megalithic monuments in the municipality, such as the dolmens of Wittenborn point to a prehistoric settlement. Altogether there are about 60 archaeological sites from the Neolithic period to the Roman Iron Age in the community, which also include urn cemeteries and settlement remains.
The town was first mentioned in 1139 as Wittenburna. He belonged to the monastery Segeberg. In its present form is the municipality since 1867.

Economy
Due to the proximity to the lake and the Mözener Segeberger forest Wittenborn is a popular tourist destination. In the municipality there are two campgrounds and a large industrial area.
