Wittenmoor is a district of the county town of Stendal in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The Stendal district Wittenmoor on the northern edge of the Colbitz - Letzlinger Heide is located south of Altmark, between Stendal and Gardelegen. In Wittenmoor springs from Tangier, a left tributary of the Elbe. The area is hilly, south-west the wooded terrain rises to 128 meters above mean sea level at (Bauer Heide).

History

1140, the village was first mentioned as a Wide More in a document, the former district Vollenschier 1251st The Witten Moorer church was built in 1895 on the remains of an old field stone foundation. The full Schierer village church is 20 years older.

Until December 31, 2009 Wittenmoor was an independent municipality with the associated district Vollenschier.

Due to a change in the contract area, the municipal council of the municipality Wittenmoor decided on 3 June 2009 that the church Wittenmoor is incorporated into the town of Stendal. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.

After the incorporation of the previously autonomous municipality Wittenmoor were Wittenmoor and Vollenschier districts of the city of Stendal. Wittenmoor is located on the highway (L 30) from the neighboring district of Vinzelberg (connection to the B 188) to Luderitz (connection to the B 189). There buses stop and call buses of the regional transport company West Saxons ( RVW ) stendalbus under the brand name.

The nearest railway station is located in the neighboring district of Vinzelberg (main route between Hanover and Berlin - Stendal ).
