Wittgendorf is a district of the municipality Schnaudertal in Burgenland district, in Saxony -Anhalt.

Geography

Wittgendorf is located about eight kilometers southeast of Zeitz. For the former municipality Wittgendorf the district Dragendorf belonged to the Schnauder.

History

1269 the village was first mentioned as Witegendorf. By a decision of July 20, 1950 Großpörthen, Kleinpörthen, Nedissen and Wittgendorf merged to form community Wittgendorf. On 1 January 2010 the municipality Wittgendorf merged with the municipality to municipality Bröckau Schnaudertal.

Manor

Wittgendorf was a Zeitz pin fief. Since the 15th century the family of Trautzschen its headquarters on the manor Wittgendorf had. Hans Karl Heinrich von Trautzschen 1748 sold the manor Wittgendorf at the Royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Johann Christoph Rockhausen, Mr. on Kirchscheidungen and Albersroda. From there, the seat of the family of Rockhausen to 1825. The manor Wittgendorf belonged, the manor house, three barns, the brewery, and with all Frohnen, Erbzinsen, Wiesbaden, wax, Lumber, Baumgarten, fish net, hunts, meals, garden, quarries, brewing license and the jus Patronatus. Mid- 1825 the heavily indebted manor Wittgendorf was auctioned to the highest bidder at the main customs retired Bookkeeper Friedrich Leberecht Garcke. The Garcke family owned the estate until the expropriation of the land reform of 1945. The main building of the manor Wittgendorf, which was located near the church on a hill, was demolished in 1994 due to disrepair. The three other outbuildings are still standing.

Church

Left of the entrance of the St. Jacob church in the village still remember two held at the Luis XVI style grave stones to the inheritance, Lehn and court Mr Rockhausen, the lords of the manor and Patrons of Wittgendorf. In the church there is a crest adorned grave stone of 1650 for a pair of siblings and a baroque grave stone of 1698 born in Wittgendorf Premier Lieutenant Henry of Trautzsch. In the " churchyard " is a small cemetery to find with other graves. The church has not been used since about 1980. The service was held in one of the lower rooms of the neighboring houses due to the condition of the Church.
