Early as 1843, there had been tentative plans to build Uelzen from a connection via Brome to the southeast. But first, the Uelzen - Wittingen - Gifhorn was built. This route was completely in the region of the Kingdom of Hanover, during the route Oebisfelde led to Prussia. After 1900, the plans to build a state railway line had failed, and there were efforts to establish a small train. Carriers were numerous neighboring communities, other authorities such as the kingdoms of Prussia and Hanover, Braunschweig and the country as well as some individuals. Reason for the railroad was the transportation needs for agricultural products and goods. The good utilization of the route is shown for example by figures for the year 1928. Six locomotives carried this year 100,000 people and about 125,000 tons of goods. 1933 and 1938 two railcars were purchased. 1939 reversed only three daily services in each direction on the track. In addition, sailed a small train bus route Brome -Witt rings.
