Władysław of Zator

Wladislaus of Zator (also Ladislaus of Zator, Wladislaus of Teschen Zator, † 1494) was from 1468 to 1494 Duke of Zator. He came from the Teschen branch of the Silesian Piast dynasty.

Life

Wladislaus parents were Wenceslas I and his wife Maria originating from Sewerien Kopczowska ( † after 1468 ). Before 1488 he married Anna ( † after 1494), its origin is not known. The marriage came from the only daughter Agnes, who was born before 1490 and died in 1505. Before 1504, she was married to the Bohemian nobleman, Jan of Tworkau.

After his father's death in 1465 inherited the not yet of age Wladislaus and his older brothers Casimir II, Wenceslas II and Johann V., the Duchy of Zator they managed first together. In 1474 they divided it into two parts, the boundary was the Skawa. The two older brothers received the eastern part, while the younger brothers Johann V. and Wladislaus the western part has been assigned. The town away from the Skawa lying Zator and its castle were also shared.

After Władysław 's death, who died in 1494 without male issue, got his territory proportion to his brother Johann V. He was now the whole territory of the Duchy of Zator call his own, as the two older brothers Casimir and Wenzel were also no longer alive and both no male offspring left behind. In the same year he had to sell it to the king of Poland.
