Władysław Żeleński (musician)

Władysław Żeleński ( born July 6, 1837 in Grodkowice; † January 23, 1921 in Kraków ) was a Polish composer.

Żeleński studied with Franciszek Mirecki in Krakow, with Josef Krejčí in Prague and in Napoléon Henri Reber - in Paris. From 1872 to 1881 he taught music theory at the Music Academy in Warsaw, after he led the Krakow Academy of Music was founded on February 7, 1888. He composed two symphonies, four operas, two overtures, a piano concerto, three masses, cantatas, motets, chamber music, piano and organ pieces and songs.
