Wognum
Wognum ( listen? / I ) is a town in the municipality of Medemblik, of West Friesland, North Holland Province (The Netherlands ).
On 1 January 2007, the previously existing community Wognum was merged together with Medemblik and Noorder - Koggenland to a new community Medemblik.
The village had Wognum 1392-1426 city rights. Although Wognum since then is no longer a city, but the village grew into a small town.

Special event
Nationally known was the place as a motorcycle police officer was captured on the adjacent A7 from a vehicle in September 2009, when he blocked a lane to facilitate the entrance of an ambulance on the highway. This was on the way to a serious traffic accident on the highway. The police officer suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries in the crash.
