Wohratal is a municipality in the district of Marburg -Biedenkopf in Hesse, Germany.

Geography

Geographical Location

Wohratal lies between the basement forest in the east and the castle forest to the west by the Wohra. Larger cities are neighboring parishes grove in the south and Frankenberg in the northwest.

Neighboring communities

Wohratal bordered to the north by the cities of Rosenthal and Gemünden (both in Waldeck- Frankenberg ), to the east by the municipality of Gilston ( Schwalm -Eder -Kreis), and in the south and west by the municipality of Rauschenberg ( Marburg- Biedenkopf ).

Community structure

The community consists of four districts Wohra ( seat of the municipal administration), Halsdorf, Langendorf and Hertingshausen.

History

Incorporations

On 1 July 1970 the municipality Wohratal was newly formed by the merger of the municipalities Halsdorf and Wohra. On 1 April 1971 Hertingshausen and Langendorf were added.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "Increases shared by red and blue by a silver ( white ) wave beams; top three Silver Stars, below a silver cross of the Order. "

In addition to the wave beams for the name -giving Wohra, are the stars and the Order of the Cross for the four districts of the municipality. The stars are reminiscent of the former county goats grove, which included the territory of the Order in the form of a Maltese cross with the stylized crown of thorns represents the Huguenot village Hertingshausen.

Nature reserve pasture juniper

The " nature reserve pasture juniper Langendorf " is one of the natural monuments of the district of Marburg -Biedenkopf. For the project, a cooperation between the county authorities, the Hessian Society for Ornithology and Nature Conservation ( HGON ) and " Hesse forest ". By purchasing and exchange five existing natural monument areas were expanded through the purchase and combined to form a large area. In December 2008, the entire area was provided with a fixed fence for year-round grazing. In spring 2009, a cattle shed was built in the "Long Valley ". The acquisition of land and the buildings were refinanced from the nature conservation law levy.

The 15 hectare site is managed by a specially established civil law partnership ( GbR ) "Long Strand juniper pasture ( pasture club ) ". This GbR is a nationally recognized as an agricultural operation Weideverein. The current (June 2009) ten members are animal breeders and keepers of Langendorf and Wohra. The included species ranging from Galloway cattle, fjord horses, up to Boer goats and Rhön sheep.
