Wojciech Olejniczak

Wojciech Olejniczak Micah ( born April 10, 1974 in Łowicz ) is a Polish politician, Doctor of Economics, since 2001 Member of the Sejm in the IV, V and VI. Legislature, former Minister of Agriculture and former Chairman of the Federal Democratic Left - SLD ( Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej ).

As the first politician who did not belong to the Polish United Workers' Party ( PZPR ), he was elected on 29 May 2005 as Chairman of the SLD. From 26 October 2005 to the dissolution of Parliament in 2007, he was Vice - Marshal of the Sejm. He was Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Cabinets of Leszek Miller and Marek Belka.

After he was a member of the Sejm already over the election period 2001-2005 (4th Term), he was elected at the 2005 parliamentary elections on 25 September 2005 the constituency 11, Sieradz, again for the SLD to parliament.

Olejniczak is a member of both the Political Committee of the understanding and in the program committee of the Left and Democrats ( LiD ), currently third major political formation next to Law and Justice ( PiS) and Civic Platform (PO ), which on the parliamentary elections in Poland in 2007 took. In these elections, he was elected to the Sejm again for the constituency of 9 Łódź. He is a member of the Sejm Commission for Constitutional responsibility.

On 22 April 2008 he became chairman of the newly formed group Lewica. On 31 May 2008, he defeated Grzegorz Napieralski surprising at the election of the party leader of the SLD.

In the European elections in 2009, he was elected to the European Parliament. This ended on 10 June 2009 its membership in the Sejm.
