Wolf Wilhelm Friedrich von Baudissin

Wolf Wilhelm Graf von Baudissin ( born September 26, 1847 Good Sophienhof, Duchy of Holstein, † February 6, 1926 in Berlin) was a German theologian and university lecturer.

Life

Baudissin studied from 1866 to 1872 Theology and Oriental Studies at the Friedrich -Alexander- University of Erlangen, the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg, Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Berlin, the University of Leipzig and the Christian -Albrechts- University of Kiel. He received his Ph.D. in 1870 in Leipzig Dr. phil. and 1874 for the licentiate of theology. He habilitated for Old Testament scholarship.

The Kaiser- Wilhelms- University of Strasbourg appointed him in 1876 as associate and full professor in 1880. In 1881 he moved to the University of Marburg, the 1893/94 elected him Rector. From 1900 to 1921, he eventually taught in Berlin. 1912/13, he was Rector of the Friedrich- Wilhelms-Universität.

Baudissin was a student of the Old Testament scholar Franz Delitzsch and the orientalist Heinrich Leberecht Fleischer and was known for his religious-historical research. In the text and literary criticism of the Old Testament he opposed the views of the Protestant theologian Julius Wellhausen.

Wolf William of Baudissin was buried in the cemetery disability Berlin.
