Wolfenstein (rock)
The Wolfenstein is a single standing rock formation in Bavaria between Tirschenreuth and Hohenwald.
Through strong, so-called Wollsackverwitterung the granite blocks look like one another from stacked sacks.
The Wolfenstein to have been an ancient Germanic sacrificial stone. One old legend is located under him a great treasure trove of gold, silver and precious stones in huge quantities, which opens every year on Palm Sunday.
The Wolfenstein is registered with the Bavarian State Office for Environment as a natural monument under the Geotopnummer 377R017.
