Wolfgang Egger

Wolfgang Josef Egger ( born February 13, 1963 in Oberstdorf) is a German car designer, currently head of design at Audi.

Biography

Egger was born on 13 February 1963 in Oberstdorf in the Allgäu. He received his high school diploma in Sonthofen. Then he studied design at the International Academy of Arts and Sciences in Milan, Italy. In 1989 he completed his studies as an industrial designer. Egger began his professional career in 1989 in the design department at Alfa Romeo. He was appointed chief designer of Alfa Romeo 1993.

In 1998 he became chief designer at Seat. There he was able to put his personal style. He was, for example, responsible for the model projects Seat Ibiza, Seat Cordoba and Seat Altea.

2001 Egger was appointed as Head of Design at Lancia. However, in the same year he returned to Alfa Romeo as head designer. Among the cars of Alfa Romeo, which were developed under his direction, were Alfa Romeo Nuvola, 156, 166, 147 and 8C Competizione.

In April 2007, followed Egger Walter Maria de Silva, who joined in February to VW, in the position of Head of Audi Group Design. He was responsible for the Audi and Lamborghini brands. He headed in 2010 the development of the showcar Audi quattro Concept and developed the first Audi e -tron Concept. From 1 February 2012, he also took over the operational design of the Audi brand.

Egger is married and father of two children.
