Wolfgang Grzyb

Wolfgang Grzyb ( born July 29, 1940 † 7 October 2004) was a German football player.

Career

Grzyb was a skilled blacksmith. His football career began at TSV Kaierde and FC Alfeld, before joining Eintracht Braunschweig in 1964. From 1966 to 1978 he took for this club as defensive players participated in 350 league matches and scored 25 goals. 305 games he completed in the 1st Bundesliga, but he hit 19 times. 1966/67, he was with Eintracht Braunschweig German football champions. With 16 European Cup inserts ( 1 goal), it is the record players of the club in European competitions. Grzyb is the only player who scored as a regular player for eleven champions of the season 1966/67, and the top team in the years between 1974 and 1977. In 1966 he played with the amateur national team against France. 1971 Grzyb was sentenced to pay a fine in the amount of DM 4400 because of his participation in the Bundesliga scandal.

Play

Grzyb was 1.69 m tall and weighed 69 kg in his playing days. He was not a typical German defense Recke, Grzyb was a fast runner and sometimes fine technician. His coach Helmuth Johannsen believed that he had transferred the acquired as a blacksmith in his profession robustness even in his game. This was to be understood as an indication of its resilience, not its hardness against other players. Grzyb suffered from injuries and rarely stayed very long active. In the 1970s, professional football players were usually from 30 to more than 33 years, Grzyb played over the age of 35 still a top team. In the last years of his career, he was the oldest player in the Bundesliga. Especially from this period date some of his best games. Private life

Wolfgang Grzyb was married, had two sons and lived in Brunswick- Waggum.
