Wolfgang Hanisch

Wolfgang Hanisch ( born March 6, 1951 in Großkorbetha, Saxony -Anhalt ) is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - at the Olympic Games in 1980 won the bronze medal in the javelin. Previously, he had come three times at European Championships medals. His most successful year in international highlights he experienced in 1979 when he won the World Cup and the European Cup Final, respectively.

Successes in detail

Wolfgang Hanisch competed for the SC Chemie Halle and coached with Günter Siegel. He was 1.87 m tall in his playing days and weighed 92 kg. After his athletic career, he was the official East German Sports Federation DTSB and after the turn of the last head of his former sports club SC Chemie Halle. Later he became a geriatric nurse in a senior center.
