Wolfgang Holzmair

He has sung (* 1952 in Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria ) is an Austrian singer in the vocal range baritone.

Life and artistic work

He has sung studied at the Vienna Music Academy with Hilde Roessel - Maidan (vocals) and Erik Werba (song). After his studies, he set out in particular as a song, a concert and oratorio singer a name. In 1974 he sang for the film Conversation Piece, by Luchino Visconti, the song Silent love by Robert Schumann. From then on, he excelled at all the major music halls of the world, in London, Lisbon, Vienna, Salzburg, New York, The Hague, Washington, Salzburg, Graz, Gstaad, Paris, etc. At the piano, he is accompanied, inter alia, Imogen Cooper, Till Fellner, Russell Ryan, Roger Vignoles and Gérard Wyss.

Wolfgang Holzmeir collaborates with leading orchestras including the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under their famous conductors.

As Opern-/Operettensänger he is also represented on national and international stages. Guest engagements led the singer to Dallas, Toronto, Seattle, Hong Kong, Erfurt, Lyon, Lille etc. belong to his repertoire, for example: Papageno in The Magic Flute, Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte, Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier, music teacher in Ariadne auf Naxos, Wofram in Tannhäuser and the singers' Contest on the Wartburg, Ottokar in Der Freischütz, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus and Homanay in the Gypsy Baron.
