Wolfgang Muthspiel
Wolfgang Muthspiel ( born March 2, 1965 in Jews Castle, Styria ) is an Austrian guitarist and composer. His stylistic diversity made it in the late 20th and early 21st century in many projects a sought-after jazz musicians. The younger brother of Christian Muthspiel founded in 2000 his own label material records.
Life
Wolfgang Muthspiel grew up in Styria, the son of the composer and choral educator Kurt Muthspiel Jews in the castle, a small district capital. At the age of six, he was given violin lessons. As a young teenager, he decided his own musical ways to go and brought taught himself to play the guitar at. After studying guitar (classical / jazz ) at the Musikhochschule Graz, he moved in 1986 to the USA. From 1986 to 1989 he completed his studies at the New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. Awards
Wolfgang Muthspiel was in Austria honored at a young age with the Young Musicians Award and received his breakthrough performance in the U.S. further honors. In his Austrian homeland him twice the Hans Koller Prize was awarded in 1997 as musician of the year 2003 in the form of highly doped European Jazz Prize.
