Wolfgang Reinhardt

Wolfgang Reinhardt ( born May 6, 1943 in Göppingen, † June 11, 2011 in Munich) was a German athlete who won the silver medal in the pole vault at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 (5.05 m). He started at these Olympic Games for the Federal Republic within a common German team.

Wolfgang Reinhardt initially belonged to the Turnerschaft Göppingen. His first coach was Jörg Bernlöhr, who taught him the basics of the new fiberglass jumping technique. From 1961 he started for Bayer 04 Leverkusen, where he trained with Bert Sumser. In his playing days, he was 1.78 m tall and weighed 68 kg. He learned the trade of Chemigrafen and studied from 1961 sports at the Sports University in Cologne.
