Wolfgang Reitherman
Wolfgang Reitherman ( born June 26, 1909 in Munich, † 22 May 1985 in Burbank, California ) was 1934-1981 animator and director in numerous Disney films.
Life
Even as a child wandered born in Munich in German Reitherman with his parents to America. After his education he studied until 1933 at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, USA.
With his wife Janie McMillan he had three sons, Bruce, Robert and Richard. Robert and Richard got a speaking role in the film The Sword in the Stone, who later became a cameraman and director Bruce Reitherman Mowgli in the jungle book and said Christopher Robin in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
Died in 1985 Reitherman in a car accident. In 1989 he received the award posthumously Disney Legends.
Career
From 1934 Reitherman worked until his retirement in 1981 as a designer and director for Disney. Walt Disney himself considered him among his Nine Old Men - its nine closest associates. For its production of the short film Winnie the Pooh and Tigger time he was nominated for an Oscar in 1975. In 1985, he won the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Awards.
