Wolfgang Seifen

Wolfgang soaps ( * 1956 in Bergheim / Erft ) is a German organist, composer and professor of music.

Life

After his musical studies at the church Gregoriushaus in Aachen from 1973 to 1976, he was first to 1983 church musician at St. Sebastian in Nettetal- Lobberich. From 1983 to 2000 he was organist at the Pontifical Marie Kevelaer.

In parallel, he headed from 1989 to 1992 the organ class for improvisation and liturgical organ playing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. From 1992 to 2000 he had the same function at the Robert- Schumann -Hochschule in Dusseldorf, where he was in 1995 appointed honorary professor. Since October 2000 he is professor for improvisation and liturgical organ playing at the University of Arts in Berlin. He was appointed by Cardinal Sterzinsky in the Church Music Commission of the Archdiocese of Berlin 2002. Since 2003 he has been vice-chairman of the " Conference of the Directors of Catholic schools of church music in Germany ". In 2004 he was appointed titular organist at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin, where it is artistic director of the International Organ Improvisation Festival Berlin ( together with Helmut Hoeft ) the organ concert series Master Concerts Berlin. He has published numerous publications on organ building and organ improvisation and written numerous compositions for choir, organ and chamber music. He is also distinguished by a number of radio and television productions and CD recordings with organ improvisation.
