Wolfgang Weil

Wolfgang Weil ( born November 23, 1912 in Klosterneuburg, † 1944/45, in Croatia ) was an Austrian chess player and a member of the national team of Austria.

Life

Wolfgang Weil was born in the suburbs of Vienna, Klosterneuburg. From an early age he was interested in combining games. Initially owned by the Japanese Go his love, and he later devoted himself to the royal board game chess. Although in his home many talented chess masters lived, he could this soon no longer be equivalent game partner. He joined the famous Hietzinger chess club in Vienna. Here he celebrated thanks to diligent work soon recognized successes and in 1936 invited to the unofficial Chess Olympiad in Munich. Here he reached on the eighth board 12 ½ points from 17 games ( 10, -2, = 5) for Austria and was the best player on his board. For his success, because was honored with the title.

In the Vienna city championship in 1937, he captured second place behind Prof. Albert Becker, as in the following topic - Four fight, the Paul Keres won.

Because during the Second World War, injured in 1944/ 45 in Croatia from a grenade hit deadly.
