Geographical Location

The wooded Wöllmisse borders the Rodatal in the south, the Jena Saale valley in the west, the Gembdenbachtal in the north and the urban area Biirgel and Gleistal in the east. History

The mountain range is specifically mentioned for the first time in 1349 as " Welmuse ". For the landscape, as well as names for the place name Wöllnitz, which is closely connected with the Wöllmisse, there are two interpretations:

Previously, there were a number of other settlements in the area of ​​Wöllmisse. 1471 is the deserted village Drauschwitz near Mennewitz in a charter of the monastery of Roda.
